At SOFAMEL, we remain committed to projects that promote innovation, young talent and technological development. That is why we have renewed our collaboration with UPC ecoRacing, the Formula Student team from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), contributing to the development of their new electric single-seater, the ecoRV.

The vehicle, designed to compete in both conventional and autonomous categories, represents a major step forward compared with previous generations. Its key innovations include the integration of autonomous driving systems, a modular carbon fibre chassis divided into six sections, all-wheel drive, a completely redesigned aerodynamic package and a newly developed propulsion system to improve performance and efficiency.

As part of this collaboration, SOFAMEL has supplied SGC Comfort ultra-thin dielectric gloves
SGC Comfort and insulating blankets, protection solutions designed to ensure safety when working on low-voltage electrical installations and equipment.

The Class 0 SGC Comfort dielectric gloves combine certified electrical protection with excellent tactile sensitivity, flexibility and comfort, features that are particularly valuable for precision tasks such as diagnostics, electrical connections and the handling of electrical and electronic components. Meanwhile, the electrical insulating blankets provide additional protection against electrical hazards during the installation, testing and maintenance of electrical installations and equipment.

This equipment enables the team to work with greater safety throughout the various stages of the vehicle's development and testing, helping them meet the technical challenges involved in a highly complex project such as the ecoRV.

The season will conclude with the team's participation in two of the most important events on the Formula Student calendar: Formula Student Spain, taking place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from 1 to 7 August, and Formula Student Germany, from 11 to 16 August, regarded as one of the world's most prestigious university engineering competitions.

At SOFAMEL, we are proud to be part of initiatives that bring universities and industry closer together, encourage the practical application of knowledge and contribute to the training of the professionals who will lead the engineering and mobility of the future.

<![CDATA[SOFAMEL Celebrates Its First Family Day as Part of Its 30th Anniversary]]>

At SOFAMEL, we believe that people are the driving force behind everything we do. That is why, as part of our 30th anniversary celebrations, we held our first Family Day, a very special event designed to share our day-to-day activities and open our doors to those who are also an essential part of this journey: our team’s families.

It was a day filled with smiles, pride and shared moments that reflected who we are and how we work.

Throughout the day, families had the opportunity to discover SOFAMEL from the inside through visits to our offices, laboratories, factories and warehouses, accompanied by colleagues who acted as hosts and guides, proudly showcasing every corner of the company and sharing with warmth and enthusiasm what we do and what drives us.

The day was packed with activities for all ages. Young and old alike enjoyed creative workshops, such as glove painting and bubble making; we experienced moments of excitement and fun on the karting track and at the table football tables; and together we created a very special space: the memory wall, where everyone left their mark on this meaningful day.

The celebration was rounded off with something for every taste thanks to the food trucks serving crêpes, ice cream, slushies and smoothies, helping to make it a day designed for everyone to enjoy together.

Above all, this Family Day was a way of highlighting what truly matters: people, shared commitment and the pride of being part of the same project.

Thank you to the entire team and their families for sharing such a special day with us.

We continue adding years,
stories and moments, together.

<![CDATA[Talent blooms again for Sant Jordi!]]> Third edition of the children’s drawing competition

This year we celebrated with great enthusiasm the 3rd edition of the Sofamel and Glovel Dielectric children's drawing competition, an initiative that has already become a much-anticipated tradition for our families. The children and grandchildren of our team have once again amazed us with their creativity and enthusiasm.

The challenge for this edition was to illustrate the legend of Sant Jordi, incorporating the new Sofamel logo into their artwork to celebrate our corporate rebranding. A fun and engaging way to bring the little ones closer to their families’ work through creativity.

Participation has been fantastic and the artistic level, outstanding!

This year’s winners were:

Carlota Corbera - Category I3–I5
Aislin García - Category Years 1–4 (Primary)
Álex Ramos - Category Year 5 (Primary) – Year 4 (Secondary)

Congratulations to all three for your wonderfully original artwork, and well done to all participants for your effort and creativity!

Thank you to all the families for continuing to support this tradition, which is now part of our Sant Jordi celebration, and to our young artists for sharing their unique perspective with us.

We are sharing their artwork so you can enjoy it too.

<![CDATA[Sofamel promotes a pioneering programme for the electrical sector with FEGICAT]]>

At SOFAMEL, we have signed a strategic collaboration agreement with the Federation of Installation Guilds of Catalonia (FEGICAT) to promote a training programme aimed at raising the technical level of electrical installation professionals and strengthening safety in operations.

This partnership comes at a key moment for the sector, marked by increasing regulatory complexity and the need to ensure safer and more efficient installations.

A unique training programme

The project includes between 14 and 16 in-person sessions across Catalonia, focused on the Specific Specifications of E-Distribución. These sessions will address the high number of queries and issues arising from regulatory interpretation and the requirements of distribution companies.

The sessions will cover criteria for regulatory application, the resolution of real-life cases and the correct execution of installations, always with a practical approach tailored to the day-to-day needs of installation companies.

Electrical safety as a central pillar

As specialists in electrical safety, we will provide technical content on safe connections, the proper use of PPE and insulated tools, reinforcing our commitment to protecting installation professionals and consolidating our position as a benchmark in safety solutions.

In this regard, Joan Margets, CEO of SOFAMEL, highlights that “electrical safety is not only a regulatory requirement, it is a responsibility towards people. At SOFAMEL, we work so that every installer can carry out their work with greater knowledge, better judgement and, above all, enhanced protection.”

We will also take part in FEGICAT’s Practical Application Guides (GAPs), reference documents that reach more than 30,000 professionals and facilitate the correct interpretation of regulations.

A joint commitment to the professionalisation of the sector

With this partnership, FEGICAT strengthens its commitment to the training of the more than 5,200 installation companies it represents, while at SOFAMEL we consolidate our role as a strategic partner in a long-term project aimed at the continuous improvement of the electrical sector.

In this context, Víctor Margets, Deputy Managing Director at SOFAMEL, states that “collaborations such as this with FEGICAT allow us to provide real value to the sector by sharing knowledge and helping to raise the technical and safety standards of installation professionals.”

The first sessions will be announced shortly through the regional guilds.

<![CDATA[We have improved our insulating gloves]]>

Class 0 and Class 00
More comfort, the same safety

We have implemented improvements in our Class 0 and 00 SG insulating gloves, manufactured at our new facility. They now offer enhanced comfort and ergonomics without affecting safety levels.

This evolution is aimed at optimizing product comfort and ergonomics while maintaining exactly the same levels of electrical protection and quality standards.

The main improvements are:
 • Reduced thickness for improved tactile sensitivity and comfort.
 • Enhanced ergonomic design for better handling and precision work.
 • Increased base material flexibility for improved fit and greater comfort during long working hours.
All quality controls and mandatory compliance tests remain unchanged.
With this development, we offer a more comfortable and functional product, without compromising the safety and reliability that characterize our insulating gloves.
