This year we celebrated with great enthusiasm the 3rd edition of the Sofamel and Glovel Dielectric children's drawing competition, an initiative that has already become a much-anticipated tradition for our families. The children and grandchildren of our team have once again amazed us with their creativity and enthusiasm.

The challenge for this edition was to illustrate the legend of Sant Jordi, incorporating the new Sofamel logo into their artwork to celebrate our corporate rebranding. A fun and engaging way to bring the little ones closer to their families’ work through creativity.

Participation has been fantastic and the artistic level, outstanding!

This year’s winners were:

Carlota Corbera - Category I3–I5
Aislin García - Category Years 1–4 (Primary)
Álex Ramos - Category Year 5 (Primary) – Year 4 (Secondary)

Congratulations to all three for your wonderfully original artwork, and well done to all participants for your effort and creativity!

Thank you to all the families for continuing to support this tradition, which is now part of our Sant Jordi celebration, and to our young artists for sharing their unique perspective with us.

We are sharing their artwork so you can enjoy it too.

<![CDATA[Sofamel promotes a pioneering programme for the electrical sector with FEGICAT]]>

At SOFAMEL, we have signed a strategic collaboration agreement with the Federation of Installation Guilds of Catalonia (FEGICAT) to promote a training programme aimed at raising the technical level of electrical installation professionals and strengthening safety in operations.

This partnership comes at a key moment for the sector, marked by increasing regulatory complexity and the need to ensure safer and more efficient installations.

A unique training programme

The project includes between 14 and 16 in-person sessions across Catalonia, focused on the Specific Specifications of E-Distribución. These sessions will address the high number of queries and issues arising from regulatory interpretation and the requirements of distribution companies.

The sessions will cover criteria for regulatory application, the resolution of real-life cases and the correct execution of installations, always with a practical approach tailored to the day-to-day needs of installation companies.

Electrical safety as a central pillar

As specialists in electrical safety, we will provide technical content on safe connections, the proper use of PPE and insulated tools, reinforcing our commitment to protecting installation professionals and consolidating our position as a benchmark in safety solutions.

In this regard, Joan Margets, CEO of SOFAMEL, highlights that “electrical safety is not only a regulatory requirement, it is a responsibility towards people. At SOFAMEL, we work so that every installer can carry out their work with greater knowledge, better judgement and, above all, enhanced protection.”

We will also take part in FEGICAT’s Practical Application Guides (GAPs), reference documents that reach more than 30,000 professionals and facilitate the correct interpretation of regulations.

A joint commitment to the professionalisation of the sector

With this partnership, FEGICAT strengthens its commitment to the training of the more than 5,200 installation companies it represents, while at SOFAMEL we consolidate our role as a strategic partner in a long-term project aimed at the continuous improvement of the electrical sector.

In this context, Víctor Margets, Deputy Managing Director at SOFAMEL, states that “collaborations such as this with FEGICAT allow us to provide real value to the sector by sharing knowledge and helping to raise the technical and safety standards of installation professionals.”

The first sessions will be announced shortly through the regional guilds.

<![CDATA[Sofamel participa en la 2ª edición de los Retos Deportivos X Empresas en Igualada]]>

An afternoon full of energy, fun and teamwork, where we enjoyed together and reinforced our commitment to health and healthy habits.

On September 18, Sofamel took part in the second edition of the Sports Challenges X Companies, held in Igualada. A day that brought together different companies in an event where health, sports, and teamwork were the true protagonists.

The event allowed us to share an afternoon full of energy, fun, and team spirit, reaffirming our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyle habits among all the people who are part of Sofamel.

In this edition, Sofamel competed in two categories:

Mixed category, with the teams SOFAMEL-Portland, SOFAMEL-Sofa Team, SOFAMEL-Alta Tensión and GLOVEL DIELECTRIC-Glovelians.
Female category, with the team SOFAMEL-Electrowatts.

Although this time we did not reach the podium, our presence in the competition was very remarkable and once again demonstrated that the true value lies in participation and teamwork.

From Sofamel we would like to congratulate and thank all the people who represented us with such enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Without a doubt, this is our spirit.

Here we leave you a selection of images capturing some of the best moments of the day.

<![CDATA[If it’s not grounded, it’s not de-energized]]> Every year, thousands of electrical accidents happen, many with tragic consequences, simply because a portable grounding device (PAT) is not used or is selected incorrectly during maintenance work.

Portable Grounding Device

In electrical safety, every detail matters

According to the National Institute for Safety and Health at Work (INSST) and the Ministry of Labor, in Spain the following are recorded each year: More than 4,800 electrical accidents, with around 150 deaths and 1,500 serious injuries. Only in the workplace, in 2022, 935 electrical accidents were reported, with 7 deaths and an average of 2.6 workers electrocuted per day, according to data from the Ministry of Labor.

The risks are real and multiple:
 • Induced voltages in adjacent lines
 • Overvoltages from lightning strikes kilometers away
 • Feedback from solar panels or generators
 • Failures of switching equipment or simple human errors

At Sofamel, we design and manufacture PAT devices according to IEC 61230, ensuring:
 • Proper selection according to the maximum short-circuit current (ICC) and installation
 • Insulating clamps and poles specifically for LV, MV, and HV
 • Regular inspection and maintenance to ensure reliability

A common and dangerous mistake is choosing a PAT with a maximum ICC lower than required, which completely compromises worker safety.

Grounding Equipment

Our message is clear:
A worker’s life depends on proper grounding.
It is not enough to de-energize; grounding and short-circuiting are always required.

<![CDATA[Personal voltage detection: a life-saving technology]]>

Working in electrical environments involves invisible but lethal risks. One of the most underestimated: induced or backfed voltages, which can energize lines that appear de-energized. A mistake, human error or technical failure can be fatal.

Statistics don’t lie: electrical accidents remain one of the leading causes of serious — and even fatal — workplace injuries.

Protect yourself with our range of detectors
D-TUERI & D-WATCH

In this scenario, personal voltage detectors have become essential allies for protecting operators, technicians, and emergency teams. They detect the presence of electric fields before it’s too late.

Real cases show their effectiveness in:

 • Electrical substations
 • Railway installations
 • Transformer centers
 • Maintenance and rescue operations

The key is choosing the right detector: adjustable sensitivity, compatibility with the work environment, and reliability in confined spaces.

At Sofamel, after real-life experiences that marked a turning point, we developed solutions like D-WATCH and the D-TUERI range, designed for complex environments—because safety must never be left to chance.

Representation of how a D-Tueri personal voltage detector alerts

When the operator approaches an electric field, the D-TUERI detector emits an audible signal to warn that they are in a danger zone. The alarm does not stop until the operator moves away from the voltage source. The device is always on alert.

Investing in personal voltage detection is not an unnecessary expense: it’s about saving lives.
