More and more companies are becoming involved in sustainable development and investing in projects that contribute to improving our planet. One example of an environmentally responsible company is Acciona Energy, an organisation fully dedicated to the development and implementation of renewable energy projects.

The current situation, with scarce resources and rising energy prices, has created the ideal environment for promoting renewable projects.

With the aim of leading the energy transition towards a decarbonised world, Acciona has announced that it will launch 2.3 gigawatts of photovoltaic hybridisation projects in Spain. The environmental impact statements are expected to be obtained by early 2023 and, currently, a total of 0.7 gigawatts of projects have already been submitted.

In the first months of the year, Acciona produced 14,530 GWh, slightly lower than the previous year due to the water shortage, which reduced hydroelectric production.

What is energy hybridisation?

Hybridisation is the term used to define energy generated using two or more different sources that share the same connection point. This makes it possible to optimise the use of the grid and increase electricity production.

In the Acciona project mentioned previously, hybridisation combines solar and hydroelectric generation. In 2019 the company pioneered the hybridisation of solar panels with wind turbines.
